New York State Swim Commission
The New York State Swim Commission was formed to help run the New York State YMCA Swimming Championships. The members are elected by the coaches of the participating YMCAs. Each coach can be a member of the organization. If requested by a league or individual YMCA, the committee will help solve any problems that may occur. Each area of the state has a representative on the committee.
The 2024-2025 season is underway! With the Olympics sparking increased interest in many of our programs, we are expecting an exciting season. The commission has been busy finalizing the details for the year, and we are looking forward to the State Championships at Webster.
This year, States will take place at the Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, NY, from March 21-23, 2025. We are excited to have States back at this pool. All information for this year’s State Championships will be available on our new website.
Our new website for all things YMCA Swimming in New York is: New York State Swim Commission - YMCA Championships Support | New York State Swim Commission (yswimny.com). Here, you will find information about the upcoming State Championships, results from past meets, and resources for YMCA teams around New York State.
We are committed to seeing YMCA competitive swimming grow in New York State. Competitive swimming is one of the many key components of our YMCAs, highlighting our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Any YMCAs around the state interested in adding a new swim team, we are here to assist in any way possible.
As we look to the future, we encourage all YMCAs to continue fostering a love for swimming among their athletes. The sport offers more than just physical benefits; it also teaches life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Whether you're a seasoned swimmer or just starting, the YMCA community is here to support you every step of the way. We hope to see more teams, athletes, and volunteers joining us in making this season a success for YMCA Swimming in New York.
Sincerely,
Thomas W. Cohill
Commissioner, NYSSC
